Cardamom sheds 0.86% on subdued demand

Speculators trim positions on adequate stock levels

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices fell by 0.86 per cent to Rs 700.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by subdued demand in the spot market at existing levels against adequate stocks position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December fell by Rs 6.10, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 700.50 per kg in business turnover of 387 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in January shed Rs 5.50, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 731 per kg in 155 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators, due to subdued demand in the spot market at existing higher levels against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
