Cardamom sheds 1.5% on subdued demand

Traders sell off on weak spot market, higher arrivals from key growing areas

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices fell by Rs 13.70, or 1.47 per cent, to Rs 914.80 per kg in futures trade today due to the adequate stocks available in the physical market on higher supply from the producing belts.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March declined by Rs 13.70, or 1.47 per cent, to Rs 914.80 per kg in a business turnover of 1,012 lots.

The April contract traded lower by Rs 12.50, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 955 per kg, with a trading volume of 332 lots.

Market analysts said off-loading of positions by traders amid a weak spot market trend on subdued demand mainly led to the fall in cardamom futures prices.
