Cardamom futures prices rose by Rs 6.70, or 0.50 per cent, at Rs 1,360 per kg in futures trade today on the back of strong demand against restricted supply in the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for October-month contract rose by Rs 6.70, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 1,360 per kg, with a trading volume of 12 lots.
The spice for delivery in September contract gained by Rs 6.40, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 1,525 per kg, with a trading volume of 31 lots, while August-month delivery went up by Rs 5.70, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 1,653.20 per kg, with a trading volume of 43 lots.
Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market, against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly attributed to a rise in cardamom prices at futures market here.
