Cardamom prices fell by Rs 15.50, to Rs 1,235.20 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators preferred to book profits, triggered by subdued demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also weighed down heavily on the cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, cardamom for December contract declined by Rs 15.50, or 1.24 per cent, to Rs 1,235.20 per kg.

The spice for delivery in January contract eased by Rs 9.40, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 1,237 per kg, while February delivery eased by Rs 2.70 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 1,242 per kg.

Marketmen said, besides profit-taking by speculators at existing prices, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures market.
