Cardamom prices fell by Rs 24.10, to Rs 1,670 per kg, in futures trade today, as speculators preferred to book profits amid subdued demand in the spot market.
Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, cardamom for delivery in March declined by Rs 24.10, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 1,670 per kg, with business volume of 44 lots.
The spice for delivery in February-month contract eased by Rs 19.20, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 1,660 per kg, with an open interest of 203 lots.
While spice for January delivery eased by Rs 8.80 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 1,612 per kg in a trading volume of 559 lots.
Market analysts said, besides profit-taking by speculators at existing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures market.
