Cardamom up 1.1% as spot demand picks up

Restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the uptrend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices rose 1.17% to Rs 750 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created positions, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market.

Further, restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March rose by Rs 8.70, or 1.17% to Rs 750 per kg in business turnover of 294 lots.

However, spice for delivery in April shed Rs 1.80, or 0.22% to Rs 824.20 per kg in 319 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators on the back of rise in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from growing regions, mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
