India’s cashew export volume for November rose 15 per cent, on year, to 9,549 tonnes, according to preliminary estimates of Cashew Export Promotion Council of India, a release said.
Export income for the month inched up to Rs 253 crore from Rs 249 crore in same period last year, the release added. The average export earning was Rs 267.75 a kg compared with Rs 297.27 in November last year.
While export volume and value rose during the April-November period, the quantity of exports declined on a cumulative basis during the same duration last year, the release said.The quantity of exports fell 5.12 per cent on year to 71,918 tonnes, while the export income declined to Rs 1,926 crore from Rs 2,091 crore.
Raw cashew imports
The quantity of raw cashew import during April-November rose by nearly 100,000 tonnes on year to 592,572 tonnes, the council’s release added.
Import cost rose to Rs 2,246 crore on year from Rs 2,090 crore.
The average cost of imported raw cashew, however, fell to Rs 37.91 a kg from Rs 42.55 a kg in the same period last year.

Domestic processing industry requires about 1.2 million tonnes of raw cashew a year to meet export and domestic demand.
At present, domestic output is meeting only 50 per cent of the industry’s requirements, exporters said.
The export earning from cashew shell liquid declined to Rs 17 crore in April-November from Rs 19 crore a year ago, the release said.
The volume of cashew shell liquid rose to 7,476 tonnes compared with 6,952 tonnes last year.
