Castorseed climbs on brisk buying

Firm trend in the overseas market also supported prices

Castorseed prices spurted by Rs 75 to Rs 2,929 per quintal in futures trade today following brisk buying by traders in line with firm trend overseas and at domestic markets.

Marketmen said restricted arrivals against frantic buying by consuming industries in physical markets in tandem with firm global trend mainly supported the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed price for June shot up by Rs.75, or 2.63%, to Rs.2,928 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,350 lots.

Far September month contract jumped by Rs.52, or 1.70%, to Rs.3,110 per quintal, having an open interest of 4,610 lots.

While most active July contract rose by Rs.46, or 1.57%, to Rs 2,976 per quintal, showing an open interest of 35,090 lots.
