Castorseed prices tumbled by Rs 154 to Rs 5,100 per quintal in futures trading today following heavy selling by traders in line with a weak spot markets sentiment.
Market analysts said apart from profit booking, heavy supply and reduced offtake in physical markets influenced the trading sentiments.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for delivery in August plummeted by Rs 154, or 2.93%, to Rs 5,100 per quintal, with an open interest of 20 lots.
Castorseed prices for delivery in April dipped by Rs 104, or 2.05%, to Rs 4,975 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 2,490 lots.
Likewise, prices for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 98, or 1.93%, to Rs 4,978.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,550 lots.
