Snapping a three day rising streak, castorseed prices dropped by Rs 86 to Rs 5,380 per quintal in futures trading today on profit taking by traders.

Market analysts said profit booking by traders on existing higher levels, mainly pulled castorseed futures prices down.

Slackness in demand from consuming industries against fresh arrivals in physical markets too affected the trading, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for delivery in May lost Rs 86, or 1.57 per cent, to Rs 5,380 per quintal, with an open interest of 650 lots.

Similarly, for delivery in March castorseed dropped by Rs 51, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 5,535 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,870 lots.
