Castorseed futures up on short covering

Castorseed prices recovered by Rs 80.50 to Rs 5,069 per quintal in futures trade today following covering-up of pending short positions by traders.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed prices for delivery in June at Disa-Gujrat recovered by Rs 80.50, or 1.61% to Rs 5,069 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,090 lots.

Similarly, prices for delivery in May went up by Rs 41, or 0.82% to Rs 5,014 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,680 lots.

Castorseed prices for delivery in April rose by Rs 56, or 1.14% to Rs 4,954 per quintal, with an open interest of 530 lots. 

 

Market analysts said the rise in castorseed futures prices was mostly due to the covering-up of short positions by speculators.
