Cement Shares Race On Consolidation Signals

Cement stocks firmed up on Wednesday on renewed fund-based buying interest. The ACC stock rose 6 per cent at Rs 199 on the BSE on the back of a volume of 15.8 lakh shares.

Grasim surged 4.3 per cent to Rs 523.50 on a volume of 6.5 lakh shares. Gujarat Ambuja Cements (GAL) rose 3.4 per cent to Rs 224.80 on a volume of 3.3 lakh shares.

Dealers at a local brokerage house said the buying interest on cement counters since the last few weeks is backed by consolidation in the cement industry following Grasim
