Chana prices traded lower by Rs two or 0.09 per cent to Rs 2,125 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators booked profits at the existing higher prices, driven by sluggish demand in physical markets.
Increased supply from the producing regions in physical markets also put pressure on the prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for July-month contract shed Rs 2, or 0.09 per cent to Rs 2,125 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,485 lots.
However, the commodity for delivery in June contract held steady at Rs 2,077 per quintal, with an open interest of 372 lots.
Traders said sluggish demand in domestic markets against increased arrivals helped the chana prices to trade a tad lower at futures trade.
