Chana prices gained for the third straight day by adding Rs 12 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 2,218 per quintal in futures trading today on continued buying by speculators and rising demand in spot markets.

Restricted arrivals from producing belts also influenced the trading sentiment. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for June-month contract gained Rs 12, or 0.54 per cent to Rs 2,218 per quintal, with an open interest of 474 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in July contract traded higher by Rs 6, or 0.27 per cent to Rs 2,253 per quintal, with a business volume of 1,598 lots.

Marketmen said continued buying by traders supported by an increased demand at spot markets led to a rise in chana prices at futures trade.
