Chana prices declined by Rs 12 to Rs 2,644 per 100 kg in futures trade today as speculators preferred to book profits at high levels, triggered by subdued demand in the spot market.
Higher arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for August delivery fell by Rs 12, or 0.45% to Rs 2,644 per 100 kg, with an open interest of 20,880 lots.
The July contract lost Rs 10, or 0.39% to Rs 2,583 per quintal, with a trading volume of 1,38,350 lots.
June chana eased by Rs 9, or 0.36% to Rs 2,509 per quintal in 1,79,430 lots. Market analysts said subdued demand against adequate supplies in the physical market mainly led to fall in chana prices at futures market.
