Chana prices dropped by Rs 30 to Rs 2,393 per quintal in futures trade today on sluggish demand against increased arrivals from producing belts in the physical market.

New crop arrival also put pressure on chana prices in futures trade.

At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May dropped by Rs 30, or 1.24%, to Rs 2,393 per quintal, with an open interest of 75,370 lots.

The April contract shed Rs 28, or 1.18%, to Rs 2,349, with a business volume of 108,700 lots.

Analysts said adequate stocks position following increased arrival from producing regions against sluggish demand, mainly led to the drop in chana futures prices.
