Chana prices gained Rs 13, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 2,187 per quintal in futures trade today on rising demand in the spot market amid restricted arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, chana for delivery in August-month contract gained Rs 13, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 2,187 per quintal, with an open interest of 357 lots.

The commodity for delivery in July contract also went up by Rs 11, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 2,144 per quintal, with a business volume of 2,171 lots.

Traders attributed the fresh rise in chana futures prices to pick up in spot demand against restricted arrivals from the producing regions.

Some enquiries from dal mills also influenced the chana prices at futures trade, they said.
