Chana futures prices recovered by Rs 8 to Rs 3,099 per quintal today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick-up in demand in the spot market ahead of the festive season.

At the National Commodity and derivative Exchange, chana for September delivery recovered by Rs 8, or 0.26%, to Rs 3,099 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,09,050 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for August delivery gained Rs 6, or 0.20%, to Rs 3,004 per quintal, with business turnover of 1,05,290 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by speculators after rise in spot market demand, following festive season, mainly led to recovery in chana prices at futures trade.
