Chana futures rise on fresh buying

Chana prices gained by Rs 11, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 2,227 per quintal in futures trade today, as traders created fresh positions on pick up in demand at spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, chana for July- month contract gained by Rs 11, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 2,227 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,807 lots.

The commodity for delivery in June-month contract also traded higher by Rs 10, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 2,184 per quintal, with a business volume of 505 lots.

Market experts said fresh buying by traders at the spot market against limited arrivals mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
