Chana prices rose by Rs 31, or 1.39 per cent, at Rs 2,250 per quintal, in futures trading today after speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in spot demand for the marriage season.
Restricted arrivals at spot markets from the producing regions of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh supported the uptrend in futures trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, chana for August contract rose Rs 31, or 1.39 per cent, to Rs 2,250 per quintal, with a business volume of two lots.
Similarly, the chana for delivery in July contract traded Rs 14, or 0.63 per cent higher, to Rs 2,207 per quintal, with an open interest of 14 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, followed by pick up in demand in the spot market for the marriage season, influenced chana prices in futures trade here.
