Chana prices fell by Rs 12 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 2,161 per quintal in futures trade today, as traders reduced their positions on sluggish demand in spot markets.

Increased arrivals in physical market also put pressure on the prices. On the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange counter, chana for July contract fell Rs 12, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 2,161 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,20,470 lots.

The commodity for delivery in current-month June contract also traded lower by Rs 11, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 2,139 per quintal, with a business turnover of 67,280 lots.

Marketmen said fall in demand against increased arrivals from the producing areas, pulled down the chana prices at futures trade.
