Chana prices gained Rs 11 or 0.51 per cent to Rs 2,154 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators enlarged their positions on pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat fuelled the uptrend in futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for June contract gained Rs 11, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 2,154 per quintal, with an open interest of 70,700 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in July contract edged up by Rs 8, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 2,177 per quintal, with a business volume of 1,24,580 lots.

Traders said speculators enlarged their positions on pick up in demand in the spot market against less arrivals from the producing belts.
