Chana prices gained Rs 10, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 2,377 per quintal in futures market today, as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand at spot markets.

Some enquiries from dal mills also influenced the chana prices at futures market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, chana for October gained Rs 10, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 2,377 per quintal, with an open interest of 72,540 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in current-month August edged up by Rs 8, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 2,250 per quintal, with a business volume of 52,280 lots.

Market analysts said increased positions by speculators on pick up in demand at spot markets, against restricted arrivals mainly led to a rise in chana prices at futures trade.
