Chana futures up on spot demand

Chana futures prices surged by Rs 71 to Rs 2,422 per quintal today on pick up in demand in the spot market due to the ongoing marriage season.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, chana for delivery in January contract surged by Rs 71, or 3.02 per cent to Rs 2,422 per quintal, with a trade volume of just one lot.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in December moved up by Rs 29, or 1.22 per cent to Rs 2,409 per quintal, clocking a business turnover of just one lot.

Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market supported by the ongoing marriage season, led to a rise in chana futures prices.
