Chana prices rose by Rs 7 to Rs 447 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 7, or 0.29%, to Rs 2,447 per quintal, with an open interest of 65,210 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in May edged up by Rs 3, or 0.13%, to Rs 2,394 per quintal, with a business volume of 78,310 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to enlarging of positions by speculators on the back of a rise in spot demand.
