Chana prices rose by Rs 8 to Rs 2,620 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on rising spot markets demand against less arrival.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in July rose by Rs 8, or 0.31% to Rs 2,620 per quintal, with an open interest of 179,110 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in June gained Rs 7, or 0.28% to Rs 2,543 per quintal in 124,390 lots.

Traders attributed the rise in chana futures to pick-up in demand in the spot market against decline in arrivals from the producing belts.
