Chana futures up on spot demand

Chana futures prices rose by Rs 4 to Rs 3,186 per quintal, as speculators created fresh positions on improved demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January rose by Rs 4, or 0.13%, to Rs 3,186 per quintal, with an open interest of 76,170 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in December edged up by Re 1, or 0.03%, to Rs 3,104 per quintal, with a trade volume of 1,50,410 lots.

Traders said fresh buying by speculators on the back of a rise demand in the spot market mainly helped chana futures prices to trade higher.
