Chana higher on firming demand in spot market

Chana prices rose by Rs 19, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 2,216 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions on expectations of rise in demand in the domestic markets.

Besides millers buying at lower levels, fall in supplies from producing regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat further supported the uptrend in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, chana for October contract rose by Rs 19, or 0.86 per cent, to Rs 2,216 per quintal, with a business volume of six lots.

Similarly, the chana for delivery in September contract trade higher by Rs six, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 2,170 per quintal, with a business turnover of one lot.

 

Traders said speculators increased their positions on hopes of rise in demand in the spot market mainly pushed up chana prices in futures trade.
