Chana futures prices rose Rs 10, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 2,199 per 100 kg in futures market today, as speculators enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in demand at spot markets.

Marketmen said rising demand among retailers and stockists on restricted supplies pushed up the prices in futures trading.

They said chana prices also rose on reports of lower rainfall in major kharif growing regions and some enquiries from millers.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, chana for July-month contract rose Rs 10, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 2,199 per quintal, with a business volume of 41 lots.

Similarly, the chana for delivery in August contract traded Rs 10, or 0.44 per cent higher, to Rs 2,240 per quintal, with a trading volume of 17 lots.
