Chana prices gained by Rs 18 to Rs 2,270 per quintal in futures trade today, largely on the back of a rise in spot market demand due to the upcoming festival season.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the chana prices at futures market.

At the Multi commodity Exchange, chana for delivery in November month rose by Rs 18, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 2,270 per quintal, with trading volume of two lots. October delivery surged by Rs 9, or 0.41 per cent to Rs 2,184 per quintal, with business volume of 23 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on rise in the spot market demand due to upcoming festival and marriage season against limited arrivals, supported chana prices at futures trade.
