Chana prices rose by Rs 36 to Rs 3,842 per quintal in futures trading today.

However, expectations of higher output restricted the gain.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the January contract rose by Rs 36, or 0.95% to Rs 3,842 per quintal with an open interest of 67,890 lots.

Similarly, the April contract moved up by Rs 21, or 0.59% to Rs 3,558 per quintal in 43,930 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of a rise in spot market demand helped chana prices to trade higher.
