Chana prices rose by Rs 15 to Rs 3,201 per quintal in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by a firming trend in the spot market on better demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, September chana rose by Rs 15, or 0.47%, to Rs 3,201 per quintal, with an open interest for 307,050 lots.

October delivery moved up by Rs 15, or 0.46%, to Rs 3,292 per quintal, with an open interest for 141,580 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by traders, driven by higher demand in the spot market amid the ongoing festive season, mainly led to the rise in chana futures prices.
