Chana prices rose by Rs 18, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 2,218 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators enlarged their positions on pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals in the physical market also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, chana for October-month delivery rose Rs 18, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 2,218 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,18,760 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in September edged up by Rs 13, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 2,124 per quintal, with an open interest of 42,710 lots.

Traders said fresh positions created by speculators and pick up in demand in spot market mainly led to a rise in chana prices at futures market here. They said some enquiries from dal mills also boosted the prices.
