Chana surges 1% on strong demand

Amid strong demand in the spot market due to festive season, chana prices surged by Rs 35 to Rs 3,421 per quintal in futures trade today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, September chana surged by Rs 35, or 1.03% to Rs 3,421 per quintal with an open interest of 1,19,900 lots.

The October contract rose by Rs 11, or 0.32% to Rs 3,481 per quintal in 3,17,590 lots.

Market analysts said strong demand in the spot market supported by festive season mainly led an upsurge in chana futures prices.
