Chana prices rose by Rs 10 or 0.45 per cent at Rs 2,230 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators enlarged their positions on expectations of good demand at domestic markets.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat supported the uptrend in futures trade. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for July-month contract rose Rs 10 or 0.45 per cent to Rs 2,230 per quintal, with a business volume of one lot.

Similarly, the chana for delivery in June-month contract traded Rs three or 0.14 per cent higher at Rs 2,189 per quintal, with a business volume of two lots.

Traders said speculators increased their positions on hopes of rise in demand in spot markets due to the ongoing marriage season, which pushed up chana prices in futures trade.
