Chana prices fell by Rs 11, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 2,085 per 100 kg in futures trade today, as speculators preferred to book profits at higher levels amid hopes of higher sowing due to good monsoon rains.

However, good demand at the spot markets, limited losses.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, chana for October contract declined by Rs 11, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 2,082 per 100 kg, with a business volume of 26 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-taking by speculators, hopes of higher sowing due to good monsoon rains also weighed on the chana futures.
