Chana up 0.7% as demand picks up

Chana for delivery in the July contract moved up by 0.62%

Chana prices rose by Rs 23 to Rs 3,220 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on pick up in demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 23, or 0.72%, to Rs 3,220 per quintal with an open interest of 1,540 lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in the July contract moved up by Rs 20, or 0.62%, to Rs 3,247 per quintal in 1,72,830 lots.

Analysts said the rise in chana futures was mostly attributed to fresh positions created by speculators driven by rising demand in the spot market.
