Chana prices moved up by Rs 42 to Rs 4,572 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at the spot market on rising demand.

Less availability of chana in the physical market following less arrivals from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in November moved up by Rs 42, or 0.93%, to Rs 4,572 per quintal, with an open interest of 58,480 lots.

October chana traded higher by Rs 35, or 0.75%, to Rs 4,697 per quintal, with an open interest of 54,690 lots.

Traders said speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand against thin supply.
