Chana up 1.2% on good buying activity

Estimates of higher production restricted the upside.

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices rose by 1.24% to Rs 3,176 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged their holdings in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market after a recent fall in prices.

However, estimates of higher production restricted the upside.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 39, or 1.24%, to Rs 3,176 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,610 lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in July gained Rs 32, or 0.99%, to Rs 3,251 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,76,800 lots.

Traders said  the rise in chana prices at futures trade to rise in spot market demand amid a fall in supply from the producing regions of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh further supported the uptrend in futures trade.
