Chana prices rose by Rs 44 to Rs 3,211 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on rising demand against restricted supplies in the spot market.
However, estimates of higher production this season capped the gains to some extent.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 44, or 1.39% to Rs 3,211 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,090 lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in July rose by Rs 40, or 1.24%, to Rs 3,253 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,70,090 lots.
Traders said speculators increasing their holdings on rise in spot market demand against restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market.
