Chana up 1.8% as demand picks up

Commodity for delivery in December higher by 1%

Chana prices rose by 1.81% to Rs 2,921 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on good demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for January delivery rose by Rs 56, or 1.81%, to Rs 3,140 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,10,530 lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in December higher by Rs 29, or 1%, to Rs 2,921 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,360 lots.

Traders said speculators increasing their holdings on hopes of a rise in spot market demand due to marriage season, mainly pushed up chana prices.
