Chana futures prices moved up by Rs 62 to Rs 3,513 per quintal today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a rise in spot demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the March contract for chana rose by Rs 62, or 1.80%, to Rs 3,513 per quintal, with an open interest of 67,160 lots.

The April contract gained Rs 54, or 1.58%, to Rs 3,477 per quintal in 77,730 lots.

Traders said fresh buying by speculators after a rise in spot market demand mainly led to the gain in chana prices in futures trade.
