Chana prices rose by Rs 7 to Rs 4,448 per quintal in futures trading today on rising demand ahead of festive season amid thin supplies in the spot market.

Weak monsoon rains also aided sentiment to some extent and helped in pushing up chana futures.

At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in July rose by Rs 7, or 0.16%, to Rs 4,448 per quintal, with an open interest of 21,710 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in August traded higher by Rs 6, or 0.13%, to Rs 4,545 per quintal in 1,04,150 lots.

Analysts said rising demand ahead of festive season amid thin supplies in the spot market mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
