Chana prices rose by Rs 12, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 2,298 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, triggered by spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, chana for October month contract rose by Rs 12, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 2,298 per quintal in a business volume of seven lots.

Similarly, chana for delivery in September month contract traded Rs 10, or 0.44 per cent, higher to Rs 2,258 per quintal in two lots.

Marketmen said pick up in demand at the spot markets driven by the on-going festive season influenced chana prices at the futures market here.

Besides, restricted arrivals at the spot market from Rajasthan and Gujarat also supported the uptrend in futures trade, they said.
