Chana prices declined by Rs 25, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 2,225 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators reduced their positions, driven by rising arrivals in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, chana for current-month July contract fell by Rs 25, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 2,225 per quintal, with a trading volume of 580 lots, while August delivery declined by Rs 18, or 0.79 per cent, to Rs 2,269 per quintal, with an open interest of 276 lots.

The commodity for delivery in September contract eased by Rs eight, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 2,312 per quintal, with a business volume of eight lots.

Analysts said besides rising supplies from producing regions and expectations of higher output, subdued spot demand also led to a decline in chana prices at futures trade.
