Chilli prices moved down by 3.14% to Rs 5,496 per quintal in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing higher levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in August moved down by Rs 178, or 3.14%, to Rs 5,496 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,060 lots.

September chilli lost Rs 40, or 0.66%, to Rs 6,014 per quintal in 11,945 lots.

Marketmen attributed the fall in chilli prices at futures trade to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels. Concerns over lower sowing due to deficient rains in key growing areas limited the losses.
