Chilli, jeera fall on sluggish demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Red chilli and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today as demand from retailers and stockists declined.

Adequate stocks following fresh arrivals from producing belts also kept pressure on the prices. Red chilli prices declined by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 9,500-13,500 per quintal.

Jeera common fell to Rs 15,100-15,300 from Rs 15,200-15,400 previously per quintal, while jeera best quality traded lower at Rs 17,300-17,400 against previous closing of Rs 17,400-17,500 per quintal.

Market analysts said sluggish demand from stockists and weak export demand mainly pulled down chilli and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
