Chilli, jeera fall on subdued demand

Red chilli and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today, owing to weak local and export demand at existing higher prices.

Red chilli prices fell by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 5,100-10,400 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality prices also declined to Rs 13,300-13,500 and Rs 14,600-15,100 against previous closing of Rs 13,400-13,600 and Rs 14,700-15,200 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and exporters at existing higher levels pulled down chilli and jeera prices.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 13,500-18,000, black pepper common 22,100-22,200 betelnut (kg) 98-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 890-900 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 850-980

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,000-1,100, cardamom (colour robin) 965-980, cardamom bold 985-1,000, cardamom extra (bold) 1,100-1,110 and cloves (kg) 300-370
