Chilli, jeera fall on subdued demand

Red chilli and jeera prices fell up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today owing to a weak local and export demand amid adequate stocks.

Red chilli prices fell by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 5,100-10,800 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality prices also declined to Rs 13,200-13,400 and Rs 14,500-15,000 against the previous closing of Rs 13,300-13,500 and Rs 14,600-15,100 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and exporters at existing higher levels pulled down chilli and jeera prices at the wholesale kirna market here.

Ajwain 16,000-19,500, black pepper common 22,500-22,600 betelnut (kg) 98-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 900-950 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 900-1,050

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,050-1,150, cardamom (colour robin) 1,000-1,100, cardamom bold 1,000-1,050, cardamom extra (bold) 1,150-1,180 and cloves (kg) 310-380
