Chilli, jeera higher on stockists buying

Red chilli and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Red chilli prices rose further by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,100-11,300 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also surged by Rs 100 to conclude at 13,300-13,500 and Rs 14,400-14,900 per quintal, respectively.

Traders said sentiments turned better following rising domestic and export demand and firming trend at futures market mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 16,000-19,500, black pepper common 22,300-22,400 betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 980-990 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,200-1,225.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 960-990, cardamom (colour robin) 1,000-1,100, cardamom bold 1,125--1,140, cardamom extra (bold) 1,190-1,210 and cloves (kg) 330-400.
